What is diabetes? What causes diabetes?

Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is classed as a metabolism disorder. Metabolism refers to the way our bodies use digested food for energy and growth. Most of what we eat is broken down into glucose. Glucose is a form of sugar in the blood – it is the principal source of fuel for our bodies.

When our food is digested the glucose makes its way into our bloodstream. Our cells use the glucose for energy and growth. However, glucose cannot enter our cells without insulin being present – insulin makes it possible for our cells to take in the glucose.

Insulin is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas. After eating, the pancreas automatically releases an adequate quantity of insulin to move the glucose present in our blood into the cells, and lowers the blood sugar level.

A person with diabetes has a condition in which the quantity of glucose in the blood is too elevated (hyperglycemia). This is because the body either does not produce enough insulin, produces no insulin, or has cells that do not respond properly to the insulin the pancreas produces. This results in too much glucose building up in the blood. This excess blood glucose eventually passes out of the body in urine. So, even though the blood has plenty of glucose, the cells are not getting it for their essential energy and growth requirements.

Why is it called Diabetes Mellitus?

Diabetes comes from Greek, and it means a siphon. Aretus the Cappadocian, a Greek physician during the second century A.D., named the condition diabainein. He described patients who were passing too much water (polyuria) – like a siphon. The word became “diabetes” from the English adoption of the Medieval Latin diabetes.

In 1675 Thomas Willis added mellitus to the term, although it is commonly referred to simply as diabetes. Mel in Latin means honey; the urine and blood of people with diabetes has excess glucose, and glucose is sweet like honey. Diabetes mellitus could literally mean “siphoning off sweet water”.

In ancient China people observed that ants would be attracted to some people’s urine, because it was sweet. The term “Sweet Urine Disease” was coined.

There are three main types of diabetes:

Diabetes Type 1 – You produce no insulin at all.
Diabetes Type 2 – You don’t produce enough insulin, or your insulin is not working properly.
Gestational Diabetes – You develop diabetes just during your pregnancy.

(World Health Organization)

Diabetes Types 1 & 2 are chronic medical conditions – this means that they are persistent and perpetual. Gestational Diabetes usually resolves itself after the birth of the child.

Y S Jagan’s Complaints :

1) The Congress government opposed his ‘Odarpu Yaatra’.
2) While Sonia Gandhi took one month to give an appointment for him, his uncle Vivenkananda Reddy got it in just 2 days.
3) Sonia Gandhi is trying to split his family by giving minister post to his uncle Vivenkananda Reddy.

Odarpu Yaatra :

The Congress government has not opposed his Odarpu Yaatra’ initially. However few controversial statements from Jagan in his tour has raised eyebrows of many senior leaders. “Only I can bring golden days to Andhra Pradesh”, “I don’t know how many more days the government can control my patience”, “Those who wants to control me will die in the TSunami of my fans love” are few of the controversial statements. No government can accept these kind of statements.

Also how can a tour with a lot of hungama, bike rallies, car rallies, flower decorations, media coverages, political speeches be considered as ‘Odarpu Yaatra’? It is crystal clear that he has used the tour for his own promotion activities and is not a whole hearted effort. This has made Sonia Gandhi to ask him to make it in a simpler way.

Appointment :

Before making such a statement he has to understand that he got an appointment in just one day after his father’s demise and by-elections were called. You need to see yourself on how many days you were available to your constituency people before making such a statement. How many times your constituency people have asked for your appointment and still were not able to meet you at least once to solve their problems? How many times you went to public after elected as M.P?

Being a party president of the National party in power, Sonia Gandhi might be busy in many issues and it may take few days or weeks or even months to get appointment depending on the severity and the priority of the issue. In fact, your father and a two time chief minister Mr. Y S Raja Sekhar Reddy of the state did not get her appointment many a times whenever he asked for. In fact she didn’t even come to meet him when he fell sick in the Rajamundry Paada Yaatra even though she was in Vizag at that time to attend an event. He has never complained on this. Does this mean that she has ignored him? She made him the chief minister of the state in the next elections. What do you say for this?

Who is Splitting your Family?

It is very funny to listen that Sonia is trying to split your family by giving minister post to your uncle Vivekananda Reddy. Is it a sin to give a minister post to a person who is in politics from 30 years and has been treated as humble and a person of public? Lets rewind some facts in this regard. Didn’t you want to contest in 2004 elections in place of your uncle? He agreed for your request with a recommendation from your father and resigned to his post to give the way for your political career. Sonia didn’t want to happen this and made him stand in the elections that time. Finally you made it happen in 2009 elections. As you were busy in making money from your businesses and not available to your constituency people after you became M.P, your uncle was elected as M.L.C to serve the public. Is it wrong to offer him a minister post for all his sacrifices and sincerity?

What is the Truth?

When Y S Raja Sekhar Reddy was expired in the air accident you came up with a group of M.L.As and showed your political strength to Sonia by making them sign on a request letter to make you the chief minister of the state. Sonia did not agree for this as you had only one year of experience in active politics and asked you to serve the party and people first to gain experience and trust. Your uncle did that very well while you are focused only on the chief minister post.

While your father says “It doesn’t matter how many days we live, it matters how many lives we helped before we die”, you are saying “It doesn’t matter how many days we live, it matters only how we live”. You are showing your power thirst by saying that golden days are to come in just 3 years. What does this mean?

Request from Public:

Your resignation has led to lot political imbalances in the state which is already suffering from so many social and natural issues. This may lead to by elections in the state.

Who will bare the cost of the elections? Isn’t this a burden on the people.

Think. Think.. and Think!!

Be Matured and don’t complain that you didn’t get appointment in 2 days like a child.
